Multi-leveled suppression of p53 function by HuR lncRNPs

Jen-Hao Yang, Myriam Gorospe

Abstract

The advent of next-generation sequencing has revealed that the majority of expressed transcripts do not encode proteins (1). Many of them belong to a large and growing family of long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs), generally defined as transcripts larger than 200 nucleotides, typically transcribed by RNA polymerase II, spliced, and polyadenylated, but not translated into protein (2).
